I kind of liked that our downtown did a morning trick or treat time where the local businesses passed out candy. It was mostly younger families and kids out at 10AM, and the scarier costumes weren't quite so startling to the kids in the daylight as they might have been in the dark. (Our kids are kind of the wimpiest about anything "scary" so that's always been a concern for us taking them trick or treating.)
